Chiropractic care has many benefits, and research supports the science of chiropractic care for lower back pain. Chiropractors are both known to treat and prevent back pain in patients, but there is recent research that suggests chiropractic care can increase spinal disc height as well. While this may not sound too important, it is known that loss of intervertebral disc height is a common trait of back pain. Discs are the ligaments between the bony vertebrae that act as shock absorbers for the spine. As we age, our discs tend to get smaller in size, which can lead to all kinds of problems, including pain. Chiropractic care uses spinal manipulation which will increase the spinal disc height. We consider this a huge benefit of regular chiropractic care and a definite bonus feature of spinal manipulation.
